How Gelco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

• Gelco Single-Flue Cap (Model A-1 series): The mesh screen on the A-1 welds itself to the hood after five to seven years of Santa Clara Valley thermal cycling, hot days followed by fog-cooled nights. The screen tears when you try to clean it, and suddenly you’ve got ember exposure and squirrel access. We replace with a new Gelco A-1 or a quality aftermarket equivalent with stainless mesh, and we document the flue condition underneath because the cap usually outlasts the clay tile it sits on.
• Gelco Multi-Flue Cap (M-100 and M-200 series): The M-series uses a band-around-brick attachment that loosens as the crown beneath it deteriorates.
